Lots of community updates

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you all had a great weekend. I am very happy to report that we now very close to having 900 residents signed up to the Trentham & Hanford Smart Alerts. Thank you to you all for helping to make this a success and I hope you are finding the e-mails helpful.

Please find at the end of this e-mail a list of locations I have attended over the last few days.

Over the past two weeks there have been ‘sign ups’ from a number of locations across the area, which include…

On 14/03/ Myself and PC Sheldon attended a careers fair at Trentham Academy.

We spoke to a large number of students from various year groups. It was great to hear the students talk about their career aspirations with many having an interest in joining the Police. We answered many questions that the students had about having a career in the Police. I don't recall having this opportunity when I was at school -  I think its absolutely brilliant.

Thank you to Trentham Academy for inviting us along

School Parking

On 13/03 I attended Jubilee Road at the end of the school day to say hello to everyone and to look at any parking issues. Firstly I want to say a huge thank you, as I know many of you make a big effort everyday in parking safely around the schools. I cannot stress enough how much It's appreciated -  It really does help to keep children and their families safe.

One of the concerns I do have is vehicles that are parked on or too near to junctions. Unfortunately I do have to frequently ask vehicles to relocate because of this. Often standing near to junctions to prevent it from happening.

When vehicles park on or too near to junctions or near to drop kerbs, it creates a dangerous obstruction, especially for children.

When a vehicle parks like this and a child attempts to cross the street…this is how their view might look…

In the very near future I will be meeting with the local Councillors and looking at ways we can help prevent this from happening. When I have confirmed a date and time I will let you know where we are meeting and everyone is welcome to come along.

If you know anyone who collects children from schools, please could you kindly pass on this advice - thank you

‘You Say, We Go’ is where residents can have their say on where local officers patrol and what issues they would like us to address. Recently I met residents who would like to see more patrols of Stone Road. On 15/03 I completed a patrol from 'Trentham Gardens Close (opposite The Harvester) to Bankhouse Road.

As a local officer for the area, I believe its crucial that we are in the locations our residents want us to be. I will ensure that in future patrols, I will cover as much of Stone Road as frequently as I can and as always please reply to any message with any locations you would like to see patrolled or patrolled more frequently.

Recently, parking concerns were raised to myself in Paddock Rise, especially on event days in the area. On 15/03 I attended this location to look into these issues and I will continue to attend as much as possible in the future.

Residents have raised concerns regarding speeding and vehicles not adhering to the ‘Access only’ Signs on Boma Road. On 13/03 I had what I felt was a very productive meeting with residents at the Police Street Surgery that was held. I will continue to work on these issues and keep residents up to date.

A resident has made me aware that they have not seen the mobile speed camera on Stone Road recently and stated that vehicles are speeding at the location. I have e-mailed the mobile speed camera department regarding these concerns.

Anti-social behaviour

I am aware that there have been concerns in regards to the behaviour of individuals in the vicinity of Oaktree Road. I have attended this location several times over the last few days, including today. At the time of writing I am hopeful that the issues have been resolved. There is currently litter/waste in the woodland close to Oaktree Road. Councillor Maxine Clark has been contacted regarding this and will be helping to get this cleared as soon as possible. For the time being I would encourage residents to keep children and dogs away from the area until it is cleared.

A resident has also made me aware that there is items of waste in the green space near to Imandra Close.  I will be contacting the Council and asking for this to be removed.

Trading Standards

In the very near future I will be meeting with Trading Standards and completing a walkabout in the area. I will be discussing No Cold Calling Zones and raising the issues recently reported of ‘pushy’ cold callers being in the area. As soon as a date and time is confirmed I will let you know and if you would like to come along you are all very welcome.

Police Street Surgeries

Today there will be a Street Surgery at Swanton Pl 14:30-14:45

On 17/03/2025 there will be a Street Surgery at Carrick Pl 15:00 -15:15

On 17/03/2025 there will be a street surgery at Timor Gr 18:30 - 18:45

On 19/03/2025 there will be a street surgery at The Mead 18:30 - 18:45

Notice boards -  today I have made a good start with placing 'sign up' letters in noticed boards across the area.

I hope you all have a great day and i look forward to seeing you all on patrol

Kind regards
